Why Choose a KN95 Mask Over an N95 Mask?
Filtering respirator face piece masks are subject to various regulatory standards and compliance guidelines from around the world. These guidelines and standards specify the required physical properties, performance characteristics and functionality necessary for achieving a particular standard within a particular country. During emergency situations such as epidemics and pandemics, health authorities may authorize the use of certain foreign standards of face piece respirators such as Chinese KN95 mask, European FFP2 masks as equivalent to United States N95 masks under an emergency authorization. The KN95 mask, like the N95 mask, provides protection from dust, debris, and other particles (bacteria, pathogens, etc) within a certain micron filter range.
Exposure to transmissible respiratory pathogens can often be diminished or possibly circumvented by wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as face masks. The KN95 mask could be an effective method of protection against airborne pathogens.
At AccuMed we source the highest quality KN95 masks available from reputable manufacturers and conduct our own independent 3rd party testing on each batch to ensure the quality of our product and integrity of our brand. Our KN95 masks are FDA registered and meet Chinese standard GB2626-2006 and/or GB2626-2019 as applicable. Our KN95 masks are composed of a 6 ply design of meltblown and spunbond polypropylene.
Who Rates and Certifies KN95 Masks?
KN95 masks are regulated by the Chinese government under regulation GB2626-2006 and most recently GB2626-2019 and are rated to filter 95% of particles. In April of 2020, in order to help expand the availability of general use face masks for the general public and particulate filtering facepiece respirators for healthcare professionals during the current pandemic, the FDA issued guidance authorizing the use of certain KN95 masks as suitable non-NIOSH alternatives under specified emergency use authorizations.
KN95 masks are often used in various industries and sectors as a safety measure such construction and design, mining, food processing, food safety, general manufacturing, transportation, and oil and gas.
KN95 masks are less regulated than N95 masks and do not require as stringent testing and quality control checks and balances as compared to N95 masks. For example, there are no factory audits or specific inspection requirements imposed by the Chinese government with respect to KN95 masks unlike as required by NIOSH and N95 masks in the United States. It is for this reason that AccuMed insists on its own independent third party testing on all batches of KN95 masks which we purchase or import from our suppliers.
What is the Filtration Efficiency of a KN95 Face Mask?
KN95 masks are manufactured to a rating of least 95% filtration efficiency, which makes them functionally similar to the United States rated N95 masks (95% filtration efficiency). Please refer to the "Documentation" section of this page, under the Images section, to download the filtration test reports with respect to this KN95 face mask.
Why Buy a BNX KN95 Mask?
The BNX KN95 mask is designed to provide protection from all sorts of non-oil based particles sized 0.3 microns or greater. An effective KN95 mask is essential given the current state of affairs we are faced with around the world. This mask is specially designed to achieve a very close facial fit for optimum protection.
The latest KN95 GB2626-2019 standard spells out the physical properties demanded, along with the filtration performance necessary for each mask to meet in order to be deemed compliant within the declared standards. In emergency scenarios, such as a pandemic, health authorities around the world including the CDC and FDA in the United States may authorize the use of KN95 and other non-NIOSH internationally rated masks under a temporary use authorization due a shortage of NIOSH N95 masks.
